Description
Koch snowflake fractal. Artwork showing the first four steps (iterations) of the sequence used to generate a Koch snowflake fractal. The rules to generate this fractal start from an equilateral triangle (left). On each side of the triangle, a new triangle a third the size is constructed on the middle third of that side (red triangle), and the base of the new triangles removed. This process is repeated to produce the first four iterations shown here. This fractal was described by Swedish mathematician Helge von Koch in 1904.
